My first little DIY project

Thanks to CG I have made it my mission to now refinish all those projects that have been swimming around in my brain. Until I found her blog, I had all these grandiose ideas but never an actual concept on how to actually go about doing them. I can say she has truly inspired (probably and understatement)me and I cant wait to see how my first real diy project turns out.

Short term it is used all over the house (probably as an entry station in our next place) and in the long term it will probably be a childs bookcase so I would like to try to avoid repainting it later (but I plan on doing a neutral nursery anyways) *not prego any time soon*. So, I need something versatile. I thought about doing white, but thought that would be too boring. I also thought about gray or a peacock blue...

Here you can see It bubbles up, pretty cool, huh.

Never mind that Im not wearing gloves...

I'm just about done striping all the paint. The wood is actually very pretty underneath. Not pretty enough though, I'm afraid. *taps fingers together*

And theres my little man. Curious as ever.

Are there any projects in your life that you feel like you cant quite put your mind around how to do them? Are you a DIY novice or champ? Do you have any suggestions for us beginners or any suggestions for what I should do with my little bookshelf? Post your thoughts here. I would love to hear what you have to say!

Messing around with house staging and a new design board.

I found this new website Olioboard.com. It is most amazing. You can design any room you can imagine minus the walls. Actually, you can probably do those but I have not discovered that yet. Here is an example. I kinda went crazy with the accessories options but I could not decide between going all neutral with different metallics or doing a deep jewel tone option. So I did both. Sigh, I would love to have access to these items to stage but I doubt I will. So this is more of a "feel" and "look" board then an actual "use these exact items" board.
